She was born on 29 March 1985 in Roswell New Mexico. Gerina Michelle Mendoza is her birth name. Gerina Stevenson has Mexican parentage Rita Stevenson (mother) and Alan Stevenson (father). Her heritage is Mexican American however she has an American nation by birth. From the time she was little she's been extremely keen on playing sports. Gerina played golf for the first time at the age of 15. Gerina has graduated from Goddard High School. When she was a student in high school she won at the New Mexico Golf State Tournament. A volleyball player, she also competed in state competitions. She was enrolled at Texas's University of Texas, Texas during the 2003 academic year. In her senior year, she was a winner in each tournament in which she participated. During her undergraduate career she was named Conference USA individual champion player of the year, and was named UTEP Female Athletics Player of the Year.
