Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972 in Houston, Texas, was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner was her father, and was a chemical engineer company called Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in a college near her. To follow her father, she earned an engineering degree in chemical science. But because she wanted to follow her dream of becoming actress, she relocating to New York to try her chances in the film industry. In addition to appearing in Broadway plays, she also served as a server in an adjacent restaurant. She was in as a guest on the tv show "Felicity." The show was here that she met Scott Foley, her first husband. Garner had her breakthrough in the romantic comedy "13 Going on 30" in which she played an teen trapped inside an adult's body. Garner selected Gary Winick, who directed the movie. They continued to work together in search of other projects following the death of Winick. Garner became an ambassador of Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. The program focuses on literacy, nutrition and early childhood education. Garner has been a member of the board for the non-profit group since the year 2014. She is a proponent of early preschool education. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner has visited families on a regular basis to guide them in ways to encourage their young children to achieve.
